SMITH CALLS FOR RAIL FLEXIBILITY

6.20.49pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 21st May 2007

Iain Smith MSP has called for flexibility in the use of railway Saver tickets during the week in July when the Forth Bridge will be closed, so that those travelling to and from Leuchars, Cupar and Ladybank will have an alternative to having to change to a bus. Mr Smith said, 'Two years ago the Forth Bridge was similarly closed for a few days in July. For that period, First Scotrail allowed those holding Saver tickets from Leuchars and Cupar to Stirling, Glasgow or beyond to travel via Dundee, rather than having to suffer the inconvenience of changing to a bus at Inverkeithing. I hope that First Scotrail will do likewise upon this occasion, and also allow passengers from Ladybank to travel to Edinburgh via Perth.'
