SMITH URGES CONSTITUENTS TO RESPOND TO POST OFFICE CONSULTATION

11.39.19am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 1st Aug 2007

Member of the Scottish Parliament for North East Fife, Iain Smith is calling on all constituents who have concerns regarding the Post Office's proposal to move the Crown Post office in St Andrews to within the premises of WH Smith to submit these to the Post Office before the end of the consultation period on 7th August.

"It is very important that any concerns and objections are made known to the Post Office ahead of the deadline for submissions next week," commented Mr Smith. " Both myself and Sir Menzies Campbell MP will be doing this after the public meeting with the Post Office on Thursday (2nd August) evening."

"I have made my personal objection to this proposal clear to the Post Office in our various meetings and correspondence. I feel that WH Smith is quite simply not suitable to provide a Crown Post Office service", concluded Iain Smith.
