SMITH TABLES MOTION TO CONGRATULATE THE DOLPHIN COMMUNITY CENTRE

4.27.03pm GMT Tue 4th Dec 2007

North East Fife MSP, Iain Smith, has tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament to congratulate the Dolphin Community Centre in Tayport on its successful bid to gain £80,000 in funding through a joint initiative by the Big Lottery Fund and STV's North Tonight program.

Mr Smith said:

"I am delighted to table this motion of congratulations to the Dolphin Community Centre. I'm always pleased to see grassroots projects getting the funding they deserve - especially when those projects happen to be in Fife.

"I know that a lot of hard work has gone into securing this funding and that a lot of people will benefit from the improved facilities".

The motion reads: "that the Parliament congratulates the Dolphin Community Centre in Tayport on successfully competing on STV's North Tonight program for £80,000 of funding from the Big Lottery Fund; notes the importance of the centre to the local community in and around Tayport; welcomes the funding which will be used to upgrade the building and carry out internal improvements to the layout of the centre, allowing it to be used for a greater range of activities, and wishes continued success to the centre and those who have worked so hard to secure its future."
