SMITH WELCOMES NEW NHS DENTAL PRACTICE IN NORTH EAST FIFE

12.00.00am GMT Tue 5th Feb 2008

North East Fife MSP, Iain Smith has welcomed the news that a new NHS dentist is to open its doors in Auchtermuchty shortly. The practice, which is looking to register 6000 patients on the NHS, should be opening its doors in the next few weeks and is currently accepting registrations.

Commenting on the news, Mr Smith said, "This new dentist practice in Auchtermuchty is great news for North East Fife. There is a real lack of NHS Dentistry, not just in North East Fife but all over Scotland which the Scottish government really must address.

"The previous Lib Dem/Labour Scottish Executive implemented initiatives to tackle the NHS dentist shortages which the current government have acknowledged as effective and are not proposing anything further. Whilst these initiatives will help, more must be done to ensure everyone has access to an NHS Dentist."
