'COMMONSENSE HAS PREVAILED, ' SAY SMITH & CAMPBELL6.48.00pm GMT Fri 5th Dec 2008 Iain Smith MSP & Sir Menzies Campbell MP have welcomed the refusal of NHS Fife's Pharmacy Practices Committee to grant a dispensing licence to provide pharmaceutical services in Leuchars Post Office. The North East Fife parliamentarians said, 'There will be a huge sigh of relief in Balmullo and Leuchars that the threat to their GPs' dispensary, likewise the viability of both surgeries, has been lifted. The committee has rightly recognised, as the residents of the villages and further afield have been pointing out, that the Post Office premises are unsuitable for a pharmacy and that the present arrangements for providing pharmaceutical services are quite adequate. "We are glad that the surgeries can continue providing their GP services, including the dispensary, to their patients and that, in this case, commonsense has prevailed.' ENDS
